Jennifer Goldbeck hosted a special episode of The Kojo Nnamdi Show, WAMU 88.5 on “How Scientific Fact Informs Science Fiction,” and I was part of the panel, which also included Bert Ulrich, Multimedia Liaison for Film and Television Collaboration, NASA; David Lavery, Program Executive, Solar System Exploration, NASA; and Ann Merchant, Deputy Executive Director, Office of Communications at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
I gave a number of interviews and comments on The Martian and its representation of technology, scientific processes, and space travel. Both the novel by Andy Weir and the film directed by Ridley Scott revel in depicting realistic technological challenges and solutions.
